ICYMI: Tampa Bay Area Cities Rank Among Best For 4th Of July

St. Petersburg's fireworks display earned honors in a recent survey for lasting the longest.

Tampa Bay, FL — As towns throughout the Tampa Bay area prepare to pull out the stops for their annual 4th of July celebrations, several cities in the region were named among the best of the best.

WalletHub crunched numbers related to 100 of the largest cities around the country to determine which are the best for 4th of July celebrations and which are the worst. A total of 16 metrics were considered, including the duration of the fireworks show, weather forecasts and the price of three-star hotels.

When all was said and done, Seattle earned first-place honors, followed by Minneapolis. The only Florida city to crack the Top 10 was Orlando in that 10th-place spot.
St. Petersburg ranked 28th overall, but was noted for having the longest fireworks show at 60 minutes, according to WalletHub. That number is four times higher than Atlanta, which placed last in duration at 15 minutes.

Tampa also made the top half of the list, coming in at No. 37.

Fourth of July celebrations are planned in towns, big and small, throughout the Tampa Bay area. Cities such as Temple Terrace, Bradenton, Clearwater and Dade City are among those with fireworks shows planned in addition to Tampa and St. Petersburg.
