'Monster' Gator Taken From Polk County Waters
The first catch was a big one for a Lakeland man who hauled in a 700 pound gator last week.
When someone says they’re going hunting images of deer, ducks, maybe even a bear cross most people’s minds. But Clark Woodsby and his three buddies will forever have visions of giant alligators in their heads following a big gator catch last week.
In a monstrous move, the four men lured, captured and killed a 719 pound alligator in Southern Polk County, according to The Tampa Tribune.

Woodsby’s catch measured 12 feet and 10 inches long, but was missing several inches of tail that would have made him longer than 13 feet. He was also missing many teeth and his two front paws, according to The Tribune.
Woodsby co-owns the Talk of the Town Restaurant Group which runs restaurants across the state and some that serve alligator meat, according to The Lakeland Ledger. More than 150 pounds of meat were taken from Woodsby’s catch and “this gator is destined for our customers,” Woodsby told The Tribune.

Woodsby also plans to put his prize on display at the next restaurant his group opens, and has already taken the animal to a taxidermist.
