Police to Raise Funds With Dodgeball Tournament

The third annual Dodgeball for a Cause fundraiser held by the Tampa Bay Storm will take place this Saturday at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.

More than seven hundred people from around the Tampa Bay area will participate in this weekend's Dodgeball for a Cause tournament which will benefit the City of Tampa Police Athletic League.

The event has run each of the last two years benefiting different charities and attracts 128 teams of firemen, police officers and private companies that dress up in costume to compete in the bracket style competition.

"Last year there were men dressed as nuns with beards," police spokeswoman Rebecca Jones said. "Prizes are be given away all day in raffles on the side, but the event is just a lot of fun to watch and a great laugh. It's really a fun family event and it just keeps getting bigger and bigger."
