Robinson Knights Move Past Gibbs Gladiators

The Robinson Knights (5-1, 4-1) hurdle another district opponent beating Gibbs Gladiators (2-4, 2-1).

The Robinson Knights extended their winning streak to three games by beating the Gibbs Gladiators 36-18 in district play last Friday, Oct. 14.

The game was more of a blowout than the score might indicate. Gibbs scored an eight-yard touchdown with time expiring to make it seem closer. Robinson was coming off a bye week and head coach Mike DePue said the team was "a little rusty".

"We played pretty vanilla on defense, need to tackle better," said DePue.

However, DePue was pleased with his team's overall performance.

"We ran the ball well, passed well, Vidal (Woodruff) is starting to mature as a player," he said.

DePue pointed out that junior quarterback Vidal Woodruff is 3-0 as a starter.

"I said after the Jesuit loss, we had to win six games in a row," said DePue. "We're three games into that now."

The Knights are on the outside looking in at Jesuit and Lakewood. They face Lakewood on October 28 in a game that will very likely decide that number two playoff spot.

"Right now, we're the quietest 5-1 team in town and we like that," said DePue.
