Tampa Man Accused Of Running Man Over, Dragging Him Under Truck

Tampa police arrested a man Monday after he was accused of running over another man who was lying in the road, killing him.

TAMPA, FL — Tampa police arrested a man Monday after he was accused of running over another man who was lying in the road, killing him.

According to Tampa police, a 51-year-old man was seen on video lying on East Robson Street, west of Nebraska Avenue on Aug. 7 at 11:44 p.m. when Stephen Patterson, 51, of Tampa, drove his truck over the man on the road, dragging him under his truck to the side of the road, and then fleeing the scene.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he died.

Police located Patterson's truck at the Value Lodge at 210 E. Fowler Ave. in Tampa after receiving a tip.

In an interview with detectives, Patterson confessed to running the man over.
