Tampa Man Wins $1 Million Lottery Scratch-Off Prize

The Tampa man claimed his prize in the $10,000,000 Fortune scratch-off game on April Fools' Day.

TAMPA, FL — A 60-year-old Tampa man is one of the latest winners announced by the Florida Lottery.

William Farrell claimed a $1 million prize from the lottery’s $10,000,000 Fortune scratch-off game on April 1, according to the lottery. Farrell’s take home winnings came in at $792,000 in a one-time, lump-sum payment, the lottery reported.

Farrell’s lucky ticket was purchased at Circle K, 5901 Memorial Highway.

“This is no April Fools’ Day joke, this is real, very real,” the lottery quoted Farrell as saying when he claimed the prize.

The $10,000,000 Fortune scratch-off game kicked off on Feb. 23. Tickets cost $25. The game features more than $623 million in total cash prizes, including 46 $1 million winning tickets and four $10 million prizes.

Tonya Davis, 46, of Tampa also recently claimed a $280,935 Fantasy 5 prize. Her winning ticket was purchased at Xnax Food, 2113 E. Linebaugh Ave., in Tampa. Davis’ quick pick numbers came in during the April 2 drawing, the lottery reported.

Davis said the win was “surreal.”

“I had my tickets in my hand and when I heard them announce the Fantasy 5 numbers I could hardly believe it,” she said. “I was just so excited.”

The lottery hasn’t said if either winner plans to give away their prizes like a 90-year-old Largo woman did after winning a $43 million jackpot recently.
