TAMPA, FL — The Tampa Police Department is urging residents not to venture out on sightseeing excursions around Tampa.

Officers are seeing a growing number of people parking in the middle of the road on Bayshore Boulevard in South Tampa and walking down into the bay due to low tide pushing out the water.

This is unsafe, said police. The water could return unexpectedly.

Officers are also reminding residents not to park on Bayshore Boulevard to avoid having their vehicles ticketed or towed.

City officials prefer that all residents remain indoors until wind and rain conditions from Hurricane Ian subside.
