Floyd’s 99 Barbershop of South Tampa today announced plans for their grand opening event to be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m. The day-long celebration will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, an in-shop scavenger hunt, prizes, and more. The shop, located at 1155 S. Dale Mabry Highway, Unit 6, in South Tampa, is owned and operated by franchisee Stephanie Noyes, a lifelong member of the Tampa Bay community. “Floyd’s is all about giving our customers an amplified experience, and we can’t wait to create that excitement at our grand opening event,” said Stephanie, noting that this is her third Floyd’s location, with shops already open in Clearwater and St. Pete. “This is an opportunity for the community to celebrate with us, meet the stylists, and even get a haircut,” she said. “Floyd’s is for everyone – men, women, and kids – and we’ll be accepting walk-in appointments all day.” The South Tampa location is offering 50% off haircuts for the first 30 days, beginning on Friday. TAMPA, FL — Tampa Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with a fatal shooting Monday. Tampa Police received a 911 call at 12:52 p.m. reporting shots fired in the 3400 block of North 53rd Street. When they arrived, officers found a 28-year-old man dead in a front yard. Several witnesses told police that a man driving an SUV had fired the deadly shots and provided information that led police to location of the SUV. Police placed surveillance on the SUV at a home at 14426 Hellenic Drive. On Monday, they arrested the vehicle's owner, Malik Maynard, 23. Maynard was taken to the Orient Road Jail where he was charged with murder in the first degree and felon in possession of a firearm.

The Underground Book Fair is a collaboration between literary arts initiative <a href="https://www.facebook.com/WordierThanThou/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Wordier Than Thou</a> and the Jack Kerouac House.&nbsp;
Those attending the book fair are encouraged to explore every room of the home, which includes some original details from when the author lived there, as well as some furniture, art, and items that belonged to him.
There is a $5 suggested donation for the Kerouac House collected at the door on the day of the event.&nbsp;
