Video, Photos Released of Gun Shop Burglary

A search is now on for four suspects, accused of taking about 42 firearms early Thursday morning.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is looking for help finding four people it says crashed through a concrete wall at a gun shop early Thursday morning and walked away with an estimated 42 firearms.

According to the agency, the break-in at Shooting Sports, 7811 N. Dale Mabry Highway, occurred around 1:35 a.m. The suspects broke through the store’s concrete wall on the south side, went inside and proceeded to smash display cases. With stolen guns in hand, the four people then took off from the business before authorities arrived.

All four suspects, the sheriff’s office wrote in an email to media, were wearing jackets. Detailed descriptions of them are not available. Three of the suspects are believed to be men. The gender of the fourth remains unclear.

Deputies released video and surveillance shots of the crime just before 11 a.m. Thursday in hopes someone will recognize the suspects in the case.
