
Tampa Bay area residents hoping to enjoy the great outdoors this weekend may want to tote along an umbrella – just in case.
The National Weather Service says rain and thunderstorms are possible daily and are quite likely to follow us into the workweek ahead.
Friday kicks things off with a 30 percent chance of rain in the daytime and evening hours in most parts of the region. The high should climb to the mid-80s while the low will only fall to about 70 degrees or so. Thunderstorms that move into the region Friday have the potential to produce strong winds, locally heavy rain and frequent lightning strikes, the weather service warns. Localized flooding is possible if those heavy rains do arrive.

Saturday also delivers about a 30 percent chance of storms during the day. They’re expected to arrive sometime after 2 p.m. The high is anticipated to again reach the mid-80s with a low around 72 in much of the region.

Storm chances rise to 40 percent in most parts of the Bay on Sunday with those chances remaining solid in the day and nighttime hours. Expect a high in the mid- to upper-80s with a low around 73.
As of Friday morning, forecasters were anticipating showers to remain in the picture when the workweek kicks off. The likelihood for rain was set at 60 percent for Monday during the day and around 50 percent Monday night and into Tuesday morning.
