TAMPA, FL — The water main replacement project along West Shore Boulevard that began June 21 has entered a new phase.

The water main replacements along South West Shore Boulevard between West Oakeller Avenue and West Euclid Avenue has largely been completed. Construction has now moved northward.

A city contractor has been replacing the water mains along South West Shore Boulevard with new and larger-diameter water mains, improving water pressure and water quality.

A portion of South West Shore Boulevard between West San Jose Street and West Swann Avenue will experience intermittent daily lane closures.

Flaggers will maintain alternating northbound and southbound traffic from Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Drivers should expect some delays.

Sidewalks within the work areas will remain open. Safety fencing will be installed between the sidewalk and the work.

Pipe bursting construction from West San Jose Street to the Culbreath traffic signal is expected to be completed by Wednesday, Nov. 23.

No construction activity or lane closures will take place during on Wednesday, Nov. 24, Thanksgiving Day, Sunday, Nov. 28, and Dec. 23 to 26.

This work is part of a larger capital improvement project and is being completed using a special pipe-bursting technology to minimize residential disruption. The entire construction project is scheduled to be completed earlier than anticipated — by late January.
