Workweek Weather: Thunderstorms, Heat Continue

Tampa Bay area residents may want to keep an eye on the sky as the week kicks off.
The National Weather Service is predicting a strong chance of thunderstorms during the early part of the week with those chances dropping as the weekend nears. Highs throughout the week will again climb into the low- to mid-90s most days with heat index levels rising into the low 100s.
Thunderstorms are likely in the early part of the week with possibilities remaining as the weekend draws near. Forecasters say storms that develop will be capable of producing strong, gusty winds, locally heavy rains and frequent lightning strikes.

Monday

- High temperature: Low to mid 90s
- Low temperature – Mid 70s
- Rain chances – There’s a 40 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms in the daytime hours and 30 percent chance overnight in much of the Bay area.
Tuesday
- High temperature – Low 90s in most parts of the Bay area
- Low temperature – Middle 70s likely
- Rain chances – Forecasters say there’s about a 50 percent chance for scattered thunderstorms during the afternoon hours and a 60 percent chance overnight.
Wednesday
- High temperature – Low 90s
- Low temperature – Upper 70s
- Rain chances – A 50 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms is anticipated for most parts of the Bay area.
Thursday
- High temperature – Low 90s
- Low temperature – Mid to upper 70s
- Rain chances - There’s a 40 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms in much of the Bay area during the day and evening hours.
Friday
- High temperature – Low 90s
- Low temperature – Upper 70s
- Rain chances – Forecasters anticipate about a 20 percent chance for isolated storms during the day and evening hours.
