Workweek Weather: What to Expect

Find out what's in store for the Tampa Bay area.

Tampa Bay area residents hoping for a break from the rains of the past week or so might get a little reprieve in the week ahead, but not enough to leave those umbrellas at home.

According to the National Weather Service, a relatively normal summertime week in weather is anticipated in the Tampa Bay area. That means highs around 90s in most parts of the region and a chance for storms daily. On the upside, those chances aren’t quite as strong as they were last week and over the weekend.

Here’s a breakdown of what’s expected on the weather front:

Monday

  • High temperature – Around 90 in most parts of the Bay
  • Low temperature – Upper 70s
  • Rain chances – 30 percent in the daytime hours and 10 percnet overnight

Tuesday

  • High temperature – Around 90
  • Low temperature – Upper 70s
  • Rain chances – About 30 percent during the daytime hours and 20 percent overnight

Wednesday

  • High temperature – Around 90
  • Low temperature – Upper 70s
  • Rain chances – About 40 percent during the day and 20 percent overnight

Thursday

  • High temperature – Upper 80s to low 90s
  • Low temperature – Upper 70s
  • Rain chances – About 40 percent during the day and 20 percent overnight

Friday

  • High temperature – Upper 80s to low 90s
  • Low temperature – Upper 70s
  • Rain chances – About 40 percent during the day and evening hours.

While storms don’t dominate this week’s forecast, the weather service warns thunderstorms that develop have the potential to create strong, gusty winds, locally heavy rain and lightning strikes.

Rain chances are expected to climb as the weekend gets under way. As of Monday, forecasters were calling for a 60 percent chance of storms on Saturday and Sunday.
