200+ Citations Handed Out In Gandy Speeding Crackdown: St. Pete Police
Local law enforcement cracked down on speeding and street racing on Gandy Boulevard over the weekend, St. Pete police said.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Local law enforcement handed out 223 citations and 156 warnings during a speeding crackdown along Gandy Boulevard over the weekend, the St. Petersburg Police Department wrote in a Facebook post.
Most citations were given to drivers going 20 to 30+ mph over the speed limit, police said.
Officers also cited drivers for failing to follow Florida’s “Move Over” law, which requires drivers to move over a lane, when they can safely do so, for stopped law enforcement, emergency, sanitation, utility service vehicles, tow trucks, and maintenance or construction vehicles with displayed warning lights. Those who can’t safely move over must slow to 20 mph less than the posted speed limit.
