6-Year-Old Safe After St. Pete Standoff
The boy's father was brought into custody by St. Petersburg Police early Monday morning.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A 31-year-old man faces criminal charges after St. Petersburg Police say he barricaded himself inside a home with a child Monday morning.
According to the police department, Fabian Williams and his girlfriend got into an argument early Monday morning in the area of 28th Street and 13th Avenue North. Williams is accused of firing a shot and then fleeing into his neighbor’s home with his 6-year-old son.
A standoff with Williams and the child barricaded in the home continued until around 3 a.m. when police say Williams came out. The child was unharmed in the incident.

Williams now faces domestic aggravated assault, felon in possession of a fire arm, felon in possession of ammunition and child abuse charges.
Williams’ girlfriend, who had two younger children with her, was not injured, police said.

Williams was being held in the Pinellas County Jail Monday afternoon without bond, jail records indicate. Williams has faced such charges as possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine and resisting an officer in the past, jail records show.
The standoff with police led to the evacuation of nearby homes Monday morning.
