9 Tampa Bay Winn-Dixie Stores To Close

Nine Winn-Dixie grocery stores are preparing to close in Tampa Bay as the parent company prepares to file for bankruptcy.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – Nine Winn-Dixie grocery stores are preparing to close in Tampa Bay as the regional grocery chains' parent company prepares to file for bankruptcy.

Also slated to close is the Winn-Dixie sister store, Harveys, at 2525 E. Hillsboro Ave. in Tampa.

The parent company, Southeastern Grocers, announced it would "voluntarily implement a court-supervised, prepackaged restructuring agreement." The company plans to file for bankruptcy by the end of March.

As part of the restructuring, the company is closing 94 grocery stores including Winn-Dixie, Harveys and Bi-Lo stores. That represents about 16 percent of Southeastern Grocers' store count, with 582 locations remaining open.
