Brighton Collectibles at UTC hosts give-and-get event to benefit the Women's Resource Center of Sarasota County
Brighton Collectibles at the Mall at University Town Center is hosting an event to benefit the Women's Resource Center of Sarasota.
Brighton Collectibles at the Mall at University Town Center is hosting a give-and-get event to benefit the Women’s Resource Center of Sarasota County (TheWomensResourceCenter.org), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to educating and empowering women in Sarasota County and enriching their lives, until Sunday, July 26.
This handbag trade-in event marks Brighton Collectibles’ 16th annual drive nationally to collect and deliver gently used handbags to women in need. Locally, Brighton selected the Women’s Resource Center of Sarasota County (WRCSC) because the nonprofit’s mission aligns with Brighton’s passion to empower women and their families. This year’s goal is to collect 65 handbags during the event, with a national goal of 10,000 handbags donated.
Shoppers who donate a clean, gently used handbag will receive $25 off a purchase of $100 - $150 and $50 off a purchase over $151 towards a new Brighton handbag. Any manufacturer’s handbag can be donated to qualify for the savings. This offer is available for each contributed handbag.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with the Women’s Resource Center of Sarasota County on this handbag trade-in event,” says Melissa Weingart, the manager of Brighton Collectibles at UTC. “Nearly every woman has a handbag that she no longer carries, and Brighton is asking women to look into their closets and gather up the bags they no longer use. This simple gift can do so much to lift a woman’s spirits, and it benefits not only the Women’s Resource Center of Sarasota County but also the job-seeking women the nonprofit helps.”
The women’s retailer of finely crafted accessories will donate all handbags collected during the event to Encore & more Consignment Shop, the WRCSC’s nonprofit resale shop in downtown Sarasota. Proceeds from their sale directly support the WRCSC’s programs to foster personal growth and employment success of women in Sarasota County.
