Specialty Market, Wine Bar Breaks Ground At Residences At 400 Central Condo Tower

A wine bar and specialty food market is under construction on the ground floor of St. Pete's Residences at 400 Central luxury condo tower.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL β€” The first retail tenant at downtown St. Petersburg’s Residences at 400 Central luxury condo tower, the tallest building in the city, broke ground on Wednesday.

The 2,000-square-foot Volta Wine + Market, a boutique wine bar and specialty food market, will open on the building’s ground floor by the end of the year, St. Pete Catalyst reported.

β€œOfficially started construction!! We were floored by the turnout to commemorate this milestone,” Volta wrote in a social media post. β€œ It truly takes a village to get us over each mountain. Onward!”

Mayor Ken Welch wrote in a post after the groundbreaking, β€œNothing says St. Pete like a new local business bringing people together on Central Ave.”

The shop will offer more than 300 wines, β€œfrom everyday staples to cellar classics β€” curated by hospitality experts,” the Residences at 400 Central wrote in a social media post.

The market will also offer β€œquality, clean-ingredient grocery for weekly shopping β€” olive oil, pasta, frozen foods, the things you’ll actually reach for,” as well as β€œa vibey bar to gather, linger, and socialize β€” with vinyl spinning in the background,” the post said, adding, β€œVolta makes wine and food part of your everyday rhythm.”

Volta’s founders, Zach Pace and Rachelle Tomushev, signed a lease with the Red Apple Group, the New York-based developer behind the residential building, last summer, reports said.
