Bryant Miller Olive attorney to receive Light Award from ARCS Foundation - Tampa Bay

Nikki Nate honored for helping group advance science and technology through scholarships

TAMPA, FL (August 19, 2015) – Bryant Miller Olive attorney Nikki Nate has been named as the recipient of the prestigious ARCS Light Award from the ARCS Foundation – Tampa Bay, in recognition for her work in serving as the organization’s General Counsel since 2010.

Achievement Rewards for College Scientists, known as ARCS, is a women’s group that’s one of the largest membership organizations in the country to contribute to science education, with over 14,000 college scholarship awards in the organization’s history.

In Florida, the organization focuses on helping PhD candidates in the fields of cancer research and the marine sciences. In recent years, ARCS Foundation – Tampa Bay has given several $15,000 scholarships to students at the University of South Florida. As one example of how the scholarships make a difference, an ARCS scholarship allowed Heidi Toomey, a student in the USF College of Marine Science, to visit the Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Australia as part of her research on temperature tolerance in reef organisms.
