Construction begins on new Siesta Key Daiquiri Deck
Venice-based J.E. Charlotte Construction Corp. began construction on the new three-story building for Daiquiri Deck on south Siesta Key.

Venice-based J.E. Charlotte Construction Corp. (www.JECharlotte.com), a commercial construction company that offers a full range of construction management services, began construction on the new three-story building for Daiquiri Deck on south Siesta Key this week.
Located at 1250 Stickney Point Road, near the intersection with Midnight Pass Road, the project will sit on the site of a former gas station on the west side of CB’s Island Outfitters, which retains ownership of the entire parcel. Its original and sister store, CB’s Saltwater Outfitters, is located two doors down at 1249 Stickney Point Road.
The new structure will feature a 1,000-square-foot coffee shop on the ground floor, refrigeration and storage will be housed on the second floor and the 3,500-square-foot Daiquiri Deck restaurant with its signature daiquiri machines will occupy the third level. The project is scheduled to wrap up in spring 2017.

“We wanted to maximize the property’s use and really create a synergy between all the businesses involved in this versatile project for south Siesta Key,” said Mason Tush, one of the owners of CB’s Island Outfitters and CB’s Saltwater Outfitters. “The open-air restaurant will have a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere with some beautiful water and beach views for an authentic Florida ambiance.”
The popular hot spot’s outdoor deck will overlook Stickney Point Road and the Intracoastal Waterway with glass railings. It will also feature partial views of Siesta Key beach and the Gulf of Mexico. The overall plan doubles the number of current parking spaces. It allocates parking spaces for 40 cars and six motorized vehicles, with some parking underneath the building. Three bike racks will also be available.

The architect on the project is Mark H. Smith, AIA, a fully credentialed LEED certified architect of Smith Architects, PA. He has over 30 years experience designing contemporary homes and commercial spaces.
To date, Daiquiri Deck has three locations. Its original Siesta Key location opened in 1993. The restaurant later expanded to St. Armands Circle in 2011 and Venice in 2013.
Owned and operated for 40 years, CB’s Saltwater Outfitters is the largest on-the-water bait and tackle shop in Sarasota and offers boat rentals, fishing charters, fishing tackle and clothing for the outdoor enthusiast. The newest location, CB’s Island Outfitters, is a retail store with snorkels, fins, masks, sunglasses, sandals and beach-ready apparel. Customers can also reserve jet ski and parasail rentals.
