Cop, Good Samaritan Rescue Dog

The critter was found wandering and malnourished in St. Petersburg earlier this week.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A neglected dog has a new lease on life thanks to a good Samaritan and a St. Petersburg Police officer.

It seems a woman spotted the dog wandering on 14th Avenue South and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street on Tuesday and flagged down Officer Dustin Weber for assistance.

“Officer Weber stopped to help and saw that the dog was malnourished and neglected,” the agency wrote on its Facebook page. “The dog must have been chained up for a very long time because his neck was raw when they took off his tight collar.”

The woman happened to notice the dog was shivering, so she took off her own scarf and wrapped it around his neck. She also named the critter “Survivor.”

He was taken to Pinellas County Animal Services to wait for an adoptive family to take him home. To find out more about the dogs and cats available for adoption at Animal Services, visit it online.
