Dr. Shereff brings decades of foot and ankle expertise to Coastal Orthopedics
Dr. Michael J. Shereff is known as an expert in the orthopedic world and has spent decades working with universities across the country.

Dr. Michael J. Shereff is known as an expert in the orthopedic world. His specialty is foot and ankle surgery, and he’s spent the last few decades imparting his knowledge to orthopedic residents and fellows at universities across the country.
Most recently, Dr. Shereff was the director of University of South Florida’s Division of Foot and Ankle Surgery at the Morsani College of Medicine. He has also taught at The Medical University of South Carolina, the Medical College of Wisconsin and the New York University School of Medicine. Along the way, he trained 45 fellows.
Now he’s bringing his talents to Coastal Orthopedics where he provides treatment for foot and ankle conditions.

After his surgical internship at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City, he completed his orthopaedic residency at the Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopaedic Institute in N.Y. Then he went to Rochester, Minn., for a fellowship at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine.
For over a decade, Dr. Shereff was on the board of directors of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society. During that time, he was president of the organization, and he has served as president of the American Orthopaedic Foot Club as well.

He also literally wrote the book on the topic – a textbook published by W.B. Saunders Company called the “Atlas of Foot and Ankle Surgery.”
Dr. Shereff, who has five children and enjoys biking and swimming, says he likes teaching and working with medical students, but he especially enjoys helping patients.
“I appreciate the challenge of seeing patients who come in with complicated cases,” Dr. Shereff said. “I like to determine what’s wrong and how we can make them better. It’s very gratifying.”
