Drowning At Mirror Lake Under Investigation

A man reportedly died after entering the water at St. Petersburg's Mirror Lake Sunday morning.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The St. Petersburg Police Department is investigating a drowning at Mirror Lake.

According to the agency, a call came in just before 9 a.m. Sunday about a man who was “acting erratically.” The man, the caller told police, went into the water of Mirror Lake, near 7th Street, and never resurfaced.

Police and firefighters responded to the call and found the man submerged in the water, an email from the police department said.

“Fire rescue paramedics worked for 20 minutes to attempt to revive the man, however he was pronounced dead at the scene,” the email said.

Officers believe they have identified the man, but are waiting to notify next of kin before releasing his name.
