Eckerd Grad Opens St. Pete Veterinary Practice

An Eckerd College graduate returned to St. Petersburg to open an affordable veterinary practice near Tyrone Mall.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — An Eckerd College graduate has returned to St. Petersburg to open an affordable veterinary practice.

Dr. Olivia Frasher recently opened LivWell Pet Care at 6730 22nd Ave N. near the Tyrone Mall, fulfilling a longtime dream, according to a news release.

“It has always been my dream since childhood to open my own veterinary practice,” she said. “My love for animals has always been a part of my existence. To me, controlling the pet population by spaying and neutering is vital to healthy, robust, well cared for fur babies and family members.”

While attending Eckerd, Frasher fell in love with the St. Petersburg area. She left after graduating in 2013 to study at the Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine, the only historically Black college to feature a veterinary program.

“The training I received at TU, gave me an incredible perspective on integrating our animal life with our human life and the importance of a healthy pet population. My goal is to bring that same culture to my practice,” she said.

As the boom in the pet population occurs, so does the need for local and national veterinarians. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many people brought a pet into the family. Unfortunately, this has also created a dearth of pet wellness facilities and veterinary hospitals, the news release said.
LivWell Pet Care will be open Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and then opens fully in July.

“My attentive staff and I would love to welcome your fur babies and provide affordable wellness care for them,” Frasher said. “I will bring to you the value of preventative care that will lead to a long and healthy life. My goal is for your pet to LivWell.”
