Bonnie Gurewitsch, curator of “Beyond Swastika and Jim Crow: Jewish Refugee Scholars at Black Colleges” at the Florida Holocaust Museum in St. Petersburg, speaks tonight in Sarasota.
The exhibit tells the story of Jewish academics from Germany and Austria who were dismissed from teaching positions in the 1930s and in America found positions at historically black colleges and universities in the South.
The exhibit runs through Jan. 21.
