“Day in Solidarity” Benefit and Forum

The Uhuru Solidarity Movement returns to The Studio@620 for its annual “Day in Solidarity with African People.” This event and others like it in Sarasota, San Diego, Oakland, Chicago, Philadelphia and New York City aim to raise more than $10,000 for the Uhuru Movement’s black-community empowerment programs.

The evening’s program features refreshments and presentations by author and activist Omali Yeshitela, who founded the Uhuru Movement; Penny Hess, author and chairwoman of the African People's Solidarity Committee; and hip-hop performers Krown and Bella from south St. Petersburg.
