Details Emerge in Fatal Tow Truck, Wheelchair Crash
Breaking: The accident, involving a person in a wheelchair, happened early Monday morning.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The St. Petersburg Police Department has released some details related to a fatal Monday morning crash involving a tow truck and a person in a wheelchair.
According to police, William Daniel Tabor, 35, was heading north on 34th Street North in the center lane around 5:40 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29. Tabor was driving a Ford F450 truck, towing a vehicle he had just repossessed.
Tabor, police said, stopped for the red light at 5th Avenue North.

At that time, police say a person in a wheelchair was attempting to cross 34th Street North from east to west. The person was in the crosswalk, an email from police noted.
As the person entered the road and began crossing, police say the light turned green. Tabor, the email said, began driving north on 34th Street and hit the wheelchair with the front of his truck. The person was thrown to the ground and under the truck, the email said.

The person, who is not being identified at this time, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The accident remains under investigation. No further information is being released at this time.
