Father-Son Murder-Suicide Under Investigation In Largo: Pinellas Sheriff
Pinellas County deputies said a 27-year-old Ohio man visiting Florida shot his father in Largo before taking his own life.
LARGO, FL — Detectives are investigating a Thursday night murder-suicide involving a father and son after a shooting in Largo, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Deputies responded to reports of a shooting at a home on 132nd Avenue North just before 10:30 p.m.
They found 27-year-old Parth Patel dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies also found his father, 55-year-old Hitesh Patel, in critical condition with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was also later pronounced dead.
The agency identified Parth as the suspect and Hitesh as the victim in the case.

During the investigation, detectives learned that Parth was visiting the area from Ohio and was experiencing a noticeable decline in his mental health.
A comment made by Hitesh to his son led to Path shooting him and then taking his own life, the sheriff’s office said.
