Florida Winefest & Auction reveals signature art by Brendan Coudal

Florida Winefest & Auction recently revealed the signature piece of art to represent and celebrate its lineup of 2015-16 events.

Florida Winefest & Auction (FloridaWinefest.org), a nonprofit that provides funding to qualified charitable organizations for programs assisting disadvantaged children, recently revealed the signature piece of art to represent and celebrate its lineup of 2015-16 events.

Brendan Coudal, a popular artist who creates mid-century styled paintings of mermaids, women, fish and more, has created “Perfectly Paired” to serve as the main visual on promotional materials for Winefest.

The 24-by-36-inch oil on canvas painting features a mermaid leaning on the edge of a glass of wine, much like a woman might lean against the edge of a pool. Coudal used his wife, Nicole, as the model for the piece, having her pose with a hula-hoop balanced on two chairs so he could visualize the rim of the wine glass.

“I wanted to create something that reflected the colors, fun and beauty the Suncoast has to offer,” Coudal said, “and I thought, ‘what better than a mermaid splashing around in a glass of wine?’”

Coudal’s image of the mermaid enjoying a swim in a wine glass will also be auctioned off, along with other items and experiences, at the Grand Tasting, Brunch and Charity Auction on March 19, with proceeds benefiting several children’s charities in the community.

“The charities that Winefest supports are near and dear to me and my wife’s hearts,” Coudal said. “We particularly appreciate the fact that Winefest helps organizations that serve children in poverty as well as special needs children and adults.”
