Florida’s Oldest Polish American Society Celebrates Its 65th Anniversary

St. Petersburg, Florida - On January 31st, 2016, the Polish American Society of St. Petersburg celebrates its 65th anniversary as Florida’s oldest organization honoring Polish and American culture. The gala event includes a catered dinner, live music and dancing,  a dance competition, and a ballroom dance show performed by national champions. Guests of honor include local political and business leaders, and the Society’s past presidents.

Founded in 1951, the Society’s Club is located a few minutes from downtown St. Petersburg. The 65th anniversary celebration is from 12:30 to 7:30 PM at 1343 Beach Dr. SE, St. Petersburg, FL 33701. Admission is $25 per person covering the entire event. A full cash bar serves Polish beers and other drinks. Proceeds will benefit the Club’s annual college scholarship and capital investment funds.

“We are proud to be part of the city of St. Petersburg. We own this great facility in a convenient location, and want Florida residents to better know us, join our Club, and use our facility for their next event, whether personal or business,” said Eugene Poplawski, Club president. “This anniversary celebrates our members as we look back upon our rich heritage, and look forward to a vital future for our Club,” added Poplawski.

“Our Club, with its charming character, is a great event venue for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, dances, concerts, meetings and business functions, accommodating up to 225 guests. It has a very large, beautiful hardwood dance floor, stage, full bar and kitchen, and original works of art. The Club offers very reasonable rental rates,” stated Monika Smolarczyk, an officer of the Society’s Board.

 The Polish American Society of St. Petersburg, founded in 1951, is Florida’s oldest organization honoring and celebrating the Polish and American culture. The Club welcomes all, not just those of Polish heritage. The Club is known for its friendliness, and new members and guests are always warmly welcomed. Signature events are Sunday Dinners and Dances, Wednesday Tea Dances, Thirsty Thursdays, and Monday night football in season.

The Club’s mission is to strengthen bonds and solidarity among members and guests, provide mutual support and help promoting the Polish traditions, culture, and language, and uphold native Polish values in America. The Club’s goals include cultivating and popularizing Polish culture, traditions, and language in American society, and providing assistance for people in the Polish Community.
