J.E. Charlotte Construction Corp. wraps up Family Promise of South Sarasota County's Day Center facility

J.E. Charlotte Construction Corp. (JECharlotte.com), a Venice-based construction company that provides a full range of services, recently wrapped up the new facility for Family Promise of South Sarasota County, a nonprofit that seeks to help families with minor children who are in temporary need of housing by providing temporary shelter, meals and comprehensive services to help them achieve lasting self sufficiency.

J.E. Charlotte Construction Corp. was chosen to completely gut and renovate the interior of the 1,214-square-foot standing building at 720 Shamrock Blvd. in Venice. The $50,000 project also included bathroom renovations and minor electrical and plumbing work. Jeff Charlotte, president of J.E. Charlotte Construction Corp., also donated $1,000 to Family Promise of South Sarasota County.

During the day, families have access to a Day Center, which is a hub for the organization. This center provides a permanent address for families, training, and case management services. All adults meet for employment consultation to assist in job seeking/placement and financial counseling to better manage finances and start savings.

“Family Promise of South Sarasota County’s board members were very pleased when we learned that J.E. Charlotte Construction Corp. had been awarded the contract to complete our renovations,” says Julie Pinkerton, a board member of the nonprofit. “Jeff Charlotte has a long history of supporting charitable causes in our community, and we knew that he would have our best interests at heart. When the project faced inevitable delays – as renovation projects usually do – Jeff stepped up and put the project into overdrive so we could immediately start serving these very vulnerable families.”

Family Promise of Sarasota County serves families in transition in Venice, North Port, and Englewood. The nonprofit provides shelter, meals, basic needs, case management, referrals and resources.
