King's Dream Unite
Local Artists and MYcroschool collaborate to bring King's Dream Unite, a moving mural, to the historic Manhattan Casino in honor of MLK Day
MYcroschool and the St. Pete Artist Collaborative Unite for Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Community Collaboration Project
The St. Pete Artist Collaborative and MYcroschool are joining together January 18th from 9:00-10:00am to create “Kings Dream Unite”, a community engagement mural. The mural will be set on the east side of the iconic and inspirational Midtown Manhattan Casino at 642 22nd St. S. St. Petersburg, Fl 33712.
The mural installation is designed and created by local artist Ya La’ford. The project will reflect Dr. King’s dream to achieve equality for all people in education, social justice and opportunity. To kick off the unveiling, local artists Helen French & Becca McCoy have created a song and dance set to Martin Luther King Jr.’s I have a Dream speech. They will be joined by student dancers to help led the community in participating.

The “Kings Dream Unite” community mural seeks to honor Dr. King’s legacy through actively encouraging our youth to live out Dr. King’s teachings – using community action to reach common goals. The story of the Manhattan Casino reflects the best of humanities efforts to set aside differences to focus on our collective shared accounts making it the perfect setting for the “Kings Dream Unite” mural.
