Man Thrown From Motorcycle In Fatal Skyway Bridge Crash: FL Troopers
The Sunshine Skyway Bridge was shut down for nearly 5 hours after a motorcyclist died in a single-vehicle crash, FL troopers said.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL β A 76-year-old Pinellas Park man died after he was thrown from his motorcycle in a Sunday afternoon single-vehicle crash on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.
The man was heading north over the bridge on Interstate 275 when he tried to avoid a collision with an unknown vehicle and lost control of his Spyder three-wheeled motorcycle near milepost 12 around 12:45 p.m.
He drove into the shoulder and hit the bridgeβs guardrail, which redirected his motorcycle, FHP said.

The rider came to a stop in the outside northbound lane and he was thrown from the motorcycle.
He died at the scene, troopers said.

The crash closed the bridgeβs northbound lanes until nearly 5:30 p.m.
