The bar’s owners announced in December that the business was on the market.

“We would like to thank all of our regulars that have supported us through it all. We wouldn’t be here without you guys. What a great 8-1/2 years it has been, through thick and thin, we persevered and made it through,” the owners wrote in a Facebook post. “Not many people can keep a restaurant more than (two) years and not only did we make it past (eight) but we made it through a pandemic! We have been on the news more than a handful of times, we are the longest and last original spot standing in the Grand Central District, and I would say that we have left a mark on St. Petersburg and in the LGBTQ community.”

“(While) this may be a chapter closing in our book, we aren’t done yet! We will be throwing big events all month long for you guys to enjoy OKW for the last times and to create more great memories with us and all our favorite people,” the Facebook post read. “So stay tuned (and) of course we will be going out with a bang for Pride weekend and celebrating our (ninth) year in the gayborhood!”

“We want to thank everyone who supported us all those years,” the diner’s co-owner, Raphael Perrier, said. “It’s been a fun ride.
