In addition to my growing wine business, I work a corporate job. It’s the classic 60ish hours per week kind of gig either in my office or on the road. I travel frequently. My professional life is full of things that need to get done.

And yet, I’ve spent quite a bit of time thinking about what I really want out of life. I love my corporate job, but that’s not the only way I want to spend my time. Life is full of amazing opportunities—and when I started my business with WineShop At Home, I decided that I wanted to experience a few of them.

How it all started

The process of starting and building this business was more like a “let’s give this a try” venture. I’ve never been a wine expert (I’m still not...don’t need to be)—but I’ve always enjoyed wine. I also enjoy people, and have always loved the idea of doing something with my time that would provide others with a source of enjoyment.

This business (which I started about a year ago) has allowed me to do these things—and so many more. I found that fitting my wine business into my already very busy life wasn’t a problem—because being a wine consultant allows you to make your own schedule and call your own shots. What if I don’t have time for another career?
