New St. Petersburg Homebuyer Program Requires Lead Clearance for Pre-1978 Homes — Here's What Buyers Need to Know (stpetecatalyst.com) — St. Petersburg homebuyers using the city's new Homebuyer Assistance Program now face a key hurdle: any pre-1978 home must have an EPA-certified Lead Clearance certificate before funds can be used. With many older houses in the city and few qualified inspectors regionally, buyers and agents may see delays and should confirm lead inspection plans early in the purchase process.
   

2. How St. Petersburg Turned Its Walls Into a World-Class Art City (5reasonstovisit.com) — St. Petersburg's explosion of nearly 600 murals, the SHINE Mural Festival, and a walkable waterfront downtown has turned the city into a major arts destination for residents and visitors alike. Anchored by the Dalí Museum, the Chihuly Collection, and a booming food and craft-beer scene, the city's creative energy is also drawing new residents and reshaping local neighborhoods.
   

3. First PSTA Ferry Arrives in Pinellas as Tampa Bay Service Moves Closer to Launch (patch.com) — A new cross-bay ferry linking downtown St. Petersburg and Tampa is moving closer to launch as the first vessel, the Bay Breeze, arrives in Pinellas County for refurbishment. PSTA expects both ferries to be readied over several months, with local marine businesses benefiting from the work and riders gaining a new transportation option later this year.
   

4. Transportation Secretary announces funds for Tampa (baynews9.com) — New federal transit funding is helping launch a passenger ferry that will directly connect downtown St. Petersburg with downtown Tampa, giving locals another way to cross the bay. During his Tampa visit, the U.S. transportation secretary also highlighted grants for shipyard upgrades and air-traffic improvements at Tampa International Airport that could benefit regional travel and jobs.
   

5. Florida roofing company drops lawsuit against St. Petersburg homeowner (wfla.com) — A St. Petersburg homeowner just had a costly roofing lawsuit and lien dropped after the Florida Attorney General challenged the company's contracts as potentially unenforceable. Her attorney believes the state's separate case helped push the roofer to walk away, and other local customers are now being urged to ask whether their own lawsuits might also be dismissed.
