Pedestrian Struck, Seriously Injured by Hit-and-Run Driver in St. Petersburg

Troopers seeking leads in the morning case which occurred on 44th Avenue North near 28th Street. [BREAKING]

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – A 56-year-old man suffered serious injuries this morning after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in St. Petersburg, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The St. Petersburg resident was walking west at 6:20 a.m. along the shoulder of 44th Avenue North, west of 28th Street North when he was hit by a vehicle, also traveling west, which then fled the scene, troopers said.

No descriptions of the car or driver were provided.

The victim was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where he is listed in serious condition, the agency said.
