Pinellas Tax Collector, Property Appraiser Getting New Digs

The facility will provide services from the Pinellas County Tax Collector and Property Appraiser.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- Pinellas County officials were on hand March 29 to the long-awaited groundbreaking of the new 40,000-square-foot service center.

The facility will provide new offices for the Pinellas County Tax Collector and Property Appraiser, which will be relocated from their current location at 1800 66th St. N. to the new facility at 2500 34th St. N., St. Petersburg.

The current location serves as many as 1,900 people each day.

The relocated facility will include more parking and on-site driver license road tests in a closed driving course. The course is designed to handle two road tests simultaneously.

The facility is also designed for increased privacy during visits, a significant benefit for transactions involving private documents like birth certificates and Social Security cards.

Construction at the site is expected to be completed by spring 2020, with the tax collector and property appraiser offices relocating thereafter.

The $10 million construction project is the result of a land swap agreement between the county and the Belleair Development Group. Belleair Development Group will own the building and the county will be a tenant. The county will have an option to purchase the building after the first year of tenancy.
