TAMPA BAY, FL — Looking for something fun to do this weekend in the Tampa Bay area? There’s something for every interest — Pirate Palooza, an art and fashion show, “Hope for Ukraine” concert, a Hispanic Heritage Festival.

A Taste of Rosh Hashanah

Celebrate the first night of Rosh Hashanah Friday, 7 p.m., with family and friends at Chabad of Bradenton and Lakewood Ranch. The Taste of Rosh Hashanah buffet will take place immediately after services and will feature delicious foods customarily eaten on Rosh Hashanah.

“Ybor City: Crucible of the Latina South” Author Appearance

Tombolo Books in St. Petersburg welcomes Sarah McNamara, author of “Ybor City: Crucible of the Latina South,” Friday, 7 p.m. Joined by fellow Florida historian Gary Mormino, McNamara will share more of the political shifts that defined Ybor City. Her work highlights the under explored role of women's leadership within movements for social and economic justice as it illustrates how people, places, and politics become who and what they are.

St. Pete Art & Fashion Week

This 13th annual arts festivalbenefits the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay. The opening night soiree takes place Friday, 7 to 10 p.m., at St. Petersburg’s Sundial, and an art and fashion runway show takes place Saturday, 6 to 10 p.m., at Coastal Creative.

SPCA Florida’s Inaugural Run for Their Lives 5K

SPCA Florida is hosting an inaugural 5K run in Lakeland benefiting homeless cats and dogs. Walkers, families, and dogs are welcome. There is also a Kiddie Dash for children under 9.

Keep Pasco Beautiful Cleanup

Keep Pasco Beautiful is partnering with Pasco County for its annual Keep Pasco Beautiful Cleanup and is looking for volunteer cleanup crews to pick up litter along roadways and public places all around Pasco County on Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon. The cleanups will take place at various locations throughout the county.

Cardboard Boat Race

Race your cardboard creation on Saturday, 9 a.m., at Hudson’s Veterans Memorial Park pool by participating in a timed race across the pool and in the "last boat floating" contest. Boats can only be built with cardboard, duct tape and paper tubes.

Third Saturday Pop-Up Market

The Bazaar on Apricot & Lime in Sarasota hosts its third Saturday pop-up market from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. In addition to the Bazaar’s permanent vendors, the event features guest vendors, live music, food and adoptable dogs.

Pirate Palooza

Whether you’re a seasoned seadog, a budding buccaneer or a local landlubber,join the Krewe of the Scarlett Fortuna at Largo’s Heritage Village on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., for a day of swashbuckling fun! Featuring live pirate demonstrations, mermaid storytimes, sea shanties, games, and more, this exciting event is free and perfect for pirates of all ages.

Move Through

Enjoy a joyful hour of movement and human connection surrounded by the beautiful works of art currently on view at the Sarasota Art Museum on Saturday, 10:30 a.m. Open to all skill levels; no dance experience required.

Hispanic Heritage Festival

Dive into the vibrant tapestry of Latin American cultures as downtown Tampa celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month through an immersive experience that blends music, art and flavors, all coming together to honor the richness of Hispanic heritage at The Market at Water Street Tampa on Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Gospel Brunch Fundraiser

This fundraiser for St. Petersburg’s Studio@620 will benefit the venue’s mission of supporting the arts community. The event will feature amazing music and delicious food, as well as information about the Studio’s 2023-2024 season of programming.

Hope for Ukraine Concert

The Kyiv Symphony Orchestra and Chorus willpresent a free concertat First Presbyterian Church, St. Petersburg, Sunday, 4 p.m. The women of KSOC are touring the southeastern United States to raise funds for their mission of music and humanitarian aid to widows, orphans, war victims, and anyone in need of hope and/or physical comfort. The men are not allowed to leave Ukraine during wartime yet are performing at the same time in Ukraine.

Oktoberfest Kickoff Parade

The Independent Bar and Cafe in Tampa hosts its first Oktoberfest Kickoff Parade, featuring the Suwannee Avenue Marching Band on Sunday, 6 p.m. The parade kicks off at Hillsborough High School off Wilder and Central and will make its way to the Independent for a ceremonial tapping of Weihenstephaner Festbier.
