Pot, Cocaine Seized After Scent Leads Cops To Grow House
St. Petersburg Police happened to knock on the home's door while following leads in an unrelated case.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — St. Petersburg Police out knocking on doors Sunday morning to gain information to help with one case had another one land squarely in their laps.
It seems when officers knocked on the door at 3643 6th Ave. S., they couldn’t help but notice a rather distinct scent coming from the home.
“Through a window an officer was able to seen marijuana plants hanging from the ceiling to dry,” an email from the police department said.

That was enough for officers to gain a search warrant for the home, which was determined to be vacant minus the visible marijuana growing operation. Once inside the home, detectives seized 32 pounds of marijuana, 58.8 grams of cocaine and a gun, the email said.
“No arrests were made, but the pot operation was shut down,” the police department noted.
