Rotary Futures College Resource Center adds two to board roster

The Rotary Futures College Resource Center (RotaryFutures.org), a community-based nonprofit resource center that provides free post-secondary planning services to Venice-area students, recently added two new board members to its roster – Amy Archer and Alicia King.

Archer, the past principal of Glenallen Elementary School and new principal of Garden Elementary School, and King, the public relations director at ThreeSixOh Public Relations, join 22 others on the Rotary Futures College Resource Center (RFCRC) board. The nonprofit’s current board members include Andrew Britton, Brenda Bartlett, Ann Hall, Debi Hammett, James Hanks, Mollie Johnson, David Joyner, Kim Kindell, Cathy Kuhlman, Doug Laudenslager, Jan Lugar, Greg Miller, Donna Pachota, Lisa Phifer, Stephen Picazio, Julie Pinkerton, Anne Skinner, Gina Taylor, Tom Trammell, Jack Turgeon, Robert Vedder and Karen Woods.

Archer, an educator for more than 18 years, spent 12 years at Glenallen Elementary. Prior to her role there, she was the curriculum coordinator at Garden Elementary and a fourth-grade teacher at Venice Elementary, where she received school’s Teacher of the Year award in 2002-03.

A Venice High School (VHS) graduate, Archer holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Central Florida and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee. She is currently the president of the School Based Administrators’ Association for Sarasota County.

King, a Venice, Fla. native, has over nine years of experience in the public relations industry in the agency and nonprofit sectors. She oversees the public relations and account management activities for ThreeSixOh PR’s clients.

A graduate from VHS and the University of Florida, King received her bachelor’s degree in public relations. She is a member of Designing Daughters of Sarasota and the ShelterBox USA’s PR committee. King is currently in the 2016 class of Leadership Sarasota County. She also contributes fashion-inspired content to Sarasota Magazine.

The Rotary Futures College Resource Center (RFCRC) is a community-based nonprofit resource center located at Venice High School. The organization provides free post-secondary planning services to Venice-area students of all ages. The RFCRC’s innovative approach utilizes a resource center with 13 Internet computer, numerous printed materials and volunteers to assist students, parents and community members.
