Saturday Morning Market Moving For Grand Prix

St. Petersburg's weekly market is temporarily moving to make way for Grand Prix preparations.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Folks with plans to visit St. Petersburg’s Saturday Morning Market this weekend won’t find it at its normal spot in Al Lang Field’s parking lot. The festivities are picking up and moving to make way for Grand Prix preparations.

This Saturday, March 4, shoppers will be able to check out the market at Williams Park, which is on First Avenue North, between 3rd and 4th Street. The market will not only take up the park, but also parts of 2nd Avenue North and 3rd Street, the city wrote in an email to media Thursday.

The temporary relocation, the city said, shouldn’t interfere with the fun. Visitors can expect the same food and produce, crafts, music and company that’s made the Saturday Morning Market a regular destination for folks across the Tampa Bay area for years. On March 4, Ace Jackson and the Jump Kings, a swing band, will be on hand to entertain. Additional music will be performed by the Wandering Madman, Owen Poteat, and accordionist Nick Boutwell.

Market fans will have to skip one upcoming weekend of outdoor shopping though. The market will close March 11 because of its proximity to the Grand Prix events, the city warned. The market will return to Al Lang on March 18.

The Saturday Morning Market is now in its 14th season. The event runs weekly on Saturdays from October through May from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. It draws about 130 vendors and 10,000 customers each week. The market has earned accolades from TripAdvisor, Creative Loafing and others.
