Scott, Crist Faceoff in 1st of 3 Debates
Florida's gubernatorial candidates are in a close race leading up to the Nov. 4 election.
Florida’s Republican Gov. Rick Scott will go face-to-face with Democratic challenger and former Gov. Charlie Crist in the first of three televised debates Friday.
With the election less than a month away, Crist leads in the polls, but not by much. The most recent poll conducted by the University of North Florida gave Crist the edge with 46 percent of voters saying they favored the Democrat challenger, The St. Augustine Record reported. Scott, however, pulled a close 42 percent.
Both candidates are likely hoping a series of debates that kicks off Friday will help them pull off a bigger margin.
