Sex Abuse Case Closed Against Former Rays' Team Doctor
St. Petersburg Police say they could not find evidence to support allegations of sexual abuse by the Tampa Bay Rays' former team physician.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – In a report released Monday, March 6, St. Petersburg Police say they could not find evidence to support allegations of sexual abuse by the Tampa Bay Rays’ former team physician.
Dr. Michael Reilly was fired by the Rays in January after a 26-year-old woman accused him of sexual abuse while she was working at Reilly’s medical clinic in St. Petersburg as a teenager.
Brianna Rah publicly disclosed her allegations against Reilly in a Youtube video viewed by more than 21,000 people.

After investigating the allegations, the St. Petersburg Police released a four-page heavily redacted report in which St. Petersburg Police Detective Karen Lofton said she could not establish probable cause to arrest Reilly. She also noted that the 26-year-old decided not to press charges against Reilly.
Despite denying the allegations against him, Reilly, 67, who served as a head team doctor for the Rays for 20 years and was previously team doctor for the Tampa Bay Lightning for 10 years, was relieved of his duties with the Rays when word got out about Rah's Youtube video.

There have been no other charges of sexual abuse leveled against Reilly nor has he ever been arrested in Pinellas County. Additionally, the Florida Department of Health has no public complaints or disciplinary action against Reilly since he began practicing in Florida in 1978.
A 1977 graduate of the Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, Reilly specializes in family and sports medicine at his clinic at 1201 5th Ave. N., St. Petersburg. He is also affiliated with St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Petersburg.
Reilly has made no statement about the police department's decision to drop the investigation into allegations.
However, in a statement released in January by his attorney, Cathleen Bell Bremmer, Reilly admitted to having a consensual relationship with Rah once she was an adult, a relationship he said he now regrets.
