St. Pete Detective Disciplined After DUI Arrest
The St. Petersburg Police officer was arrested on a DUI charge in Pinellas Park last year.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A St. Petersburg Police detective arrested in Pinellas Park last year on a DUI charge has been found guilty of conduct unbecoming an officer.
Police Chief Anthony Holloway convened a command review board on Tuesday to address the Oct. 18, 2015, arrest of one of the agency’s detectives. Michael Egulf, the police department said, was pulled over at 118th Avenue North and 66th Street around 1:20 a.m. by Pinellas Park Police officers.
Egulf entered a no contest plea in the DUI case on March 15. He was adjudicated guilty following his plea, Pinellas County court records show. The court also placed Egulf on probation for the misdemeanor first offense, ordered him to attend DUI school and set a requirement of 50 hours’ community service.

“In cases where there are criminal charges, the St. Petersburg Police Department's Office of Professional Standards conducts its internal investigation after court proceedings have concluded,” the St. Petersburg Police Department wrote in an email announcing the command review board’s decision.
Following Tuesday's review, the department placed Egulf on a 30-day suspension and is requiring him to abstain from alcohol use for the remainder of his career, which is less than five years, the email said. He will also be subjected to random drug and alcohol testing for 18 months.
