St. Pete Fisherman’s Body Found

The man's body was found Friday afternoon following a Thursday fishing trip.

St. Petersburg, FL — The St. Petersburg Police Department is investigating what is believed to be a drowning involving a 45-year-old man.

According to the agency, police were called to Bright Waters Circle Northeast around 2:18 p.m. Friday after a resident spotted a body floating in nearby water. The agency’s marine patrol unit responded and recovered the body.

The man has since been identified as Frankie Earl Duckworth of St. Petersburg. Police say Duckworth’s relatives told them he had gone fishing from an unknown location off North Shore Drive Northeast around 3 p.m. Thursday.

Duckworth’s death is under investigation, but police say there are no obvious signs of trauma.

“At this stage of the investigation, detectives believe the incident to be a drowning,” an email from police said.
