St. Pete Shooting Under Investigation

A man was shot in the chest in the early morning hours Monday.

St. Petersburg, FL — The St. Petersburg Police Department is investigating an early Monday morning shooting that’s left a man hospitalized.

According to the agency, a 29-year-old man went to the 4700 block of 23rd Avenue South around 3:50 a.m. to meet another man. At some point during the meeting, police say the 29-year-old was shot in the chest. After being shot, the victim ran from the area and called police.

The victim, who hasn’t been identified by police, was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg. Police say he suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The shooting is believed to be drug related, an email from the agency said.
