St. Pete Woman Injured in Carjacking

St. Petersburg Police are looking for a teenager who carjacked a woman Monday morning.

St. Petersburg, FL — The St. Petersburg Police Department is asking for help identifying a teenage boy officers say carjacked a 54-year-old woman Monday morning.

According to the agency, the woman was putting air in her car’s left rear tire at Wawa, 2465 22nd Ave. N. 22nd Ave. N., around 11:15 a.m. She noticed a teenage boy enter the driver’s seat of her car and confronted him.

“When she confronted him, they had a physical altercation and he punched her,” an email from the police department said. “The victim fell back onto the pavement and the suspect drove over her left foot as he stole the car and left the area.”

A nearby surveillance camera happened to catch images of the teen when he rode up on a bike just before the carjacking, police said. The teen is described as being between 14 to 16 years old. He is think and stands approximately 5-foot-6, police said.

The stolen car is a white 2012 Scion XD hatchback.

Anyone with information about the teen’s identity is asked to call police at 727-893-7780. Tips may also be texted via tip411 by texting SPPD plus the tip. Tipsters are asked to reference report No. 2016-031843.

Police did not say if the woman required medical treatment after the incident.
