St. Petersburg Bicyclist Injured In Crash Involving Deputy
The Thursday morning accident sent a St. Petersburg woman to the hospital with minor injuries.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A 33-year-old St. Petersburg woman was taken to the hospital following a Thursday morning crash involving an undercover detective from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the sheriff’s office, a 51-year-old undercover detective, who is not being named at this time, was driving on the eastbound off-ramp of Interstate 275 at 31st Street South around 7:30 a.m. Thursday. As the detective attempted to make a left turn to go north on 31st Street South, he did not see a bicyclist heading south on 31st Street in the bike lane, an email from the agency said. Another vehicle blocked the view, the agency noted.
“As the detective began to make the left turn, he struck the bicyclist with the driver side front of his unmarked SUV, knocking her to the ground,” the email said.
