St. Petersburg Second City In Florida To Be Named International City Of Peace

St. Petersburg, FL (Oct. 19, 2020) – St. Pete joins 290 other participating cities across the globe to be named an International City of Peace by the non-profit organization International Cities of Peace, making St. Pete the second city in Florida to participate, after Ocala.

This comes following Mayor Kriseman’s proclamation in January 2019 acknowledging the City’s intent to build and declare St. Pete to be an International City of Peace in partnership with the Tampa Bay Area Muslim Association, Inc., The Connection Partners, USF Open Partnership Education Network (OPEN) and the Florida Council of Churches.

The City of St. Petersburg is committed to establishing a culture of peace, promoting economic opportunity and improving the quality of life in St. Pete. Residents and visitors are invited to come together to promote peace, fellowship and understanding.

The City has also pledged to be a City of Compassion, where health and equity are accessible to all.
